Sonoma State University (SSU) is located in the beautiful wine country of Northern California. Only 43 miles north of San Francisco, SSU is in the perfect location providing a wonderful combination of country surroundings and safety with access to nearby big city activities.

What sets SSU apart from other universities is our friendly campus community where you will find academic excellence, innovative approaches to learning, and close working relationships between faculty and students. With 46 undergraduate majors, 47 minors, and 15 graduate programs, SSU will prepare you for a rewarding "professional life" in fields such as business, psychology, education, and health professions.

I want to attend SSU!

We are excited you want to attend SSU! There are multiple ways to get here, depending on your qualifications and needs.

SSU offers 44 undergraduate majors, 39 minors, and 10 graduate programs. For admissions requirements and application process, visit our International Admissions page.  

We offer up to $5,000 USD in International Student Scholarships for all new international students starting a degree program at Sonoma State University who have at least a 3.0 GPA upon admission. Study abroad at SSU for a semester, summer session, or an academic year. The Semester at Sonoma (SAS) program provides the opportunity for international students to study at SSU under the F-1 visa program and take available undergraduate or graduate classes. Students will take courses with SSU students and receive a transcript they can use to apply to their degree program at their home university.

SSU has created international partnerships with universities all around the globe to exchange students. Students are able to attend a partner university for one or two terms, while continuing to pay their home univerisity. Admitted International Students

Congratulations on your decision to study at Sonoma State University. Your admission to SSU is only the first step – there is still much to do to prepare for your study abroad experience! Be sure to stay on track by following the checklist for admitted students. Each step is very important and includes additional deadlines and forms that you must submit before your arrival at SSU.
