GEO Weekly Bulletin - 9/5/23

Check out this week's GEO Bulletin to stay up-to-date on what's happening! This week includes our Welcome Reception Recap, Coffee and Culture on September 7th, CSU IP deadline next week, and highlighting our CSU IP Mexico program!

Welcome Reception Recap:

On Thursday, August 31st, The Global Engagement Office held our Welcome Reception, greeting study away returnees and international students at Sonoma State University. We had an incredible turnout with over 50 people in attendance along with professors and staff connected to the international community on campus. SSU President Lee and Provost Moranski as well as other members of Cabinet joined the Reception as well! Fun conversations were held over cuisine, plans for the upcoming semester were discussed, and attendees also voted on their favorite photo from the alumni slideshow. We’d like to thank all the students for their submissions, and congratulate Ashlee Wells for receiving the first-place prize! Ashlee is a National Student Exchange Alum who studied at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa during the 2022-2023 academic year.

Program Highlight: Mexico: Tecnológico de Monterrey, Querétaro

Located north of Mexico City, Querétaro is one of Mexico’s most well-known and beautiful colonial cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Mexico: Tecnológico de Monterrey (in English) program is designed for beginning and intermediate students who want to improve their Spanish language skills while taking courses in their academic major. CSU IP students study at Tec’s Querétaro campus, which enrolls about 5,000 students in over 20 programs, including international relations, digital art and design, and global business. CSU students may pursue coursework in most of these areas, subject to their language ability, or concentrate on Spanish language learning. The deadline to apply for the Spring 2024 program is on Friday, September 15th. More details here! (Fun fact: this is where Global Engagement Coordinator Hope Ortiz studied abroad!)
