So, where are you from?

I’m from Hull, which is near Leeds where I go to university.

Nice, how are you studying internationally with us?

I’m here through a direct exchange program.

And what is your major?

I’m a geology student.

What made you choose Sonoma State?

I chose Sonoma because I’ve always wanted to go to California. I also liked how rural and scenic Sonoma County was and that it looked like a good foundation to travel from.

What are some of the biggest differences between Sonoma and where you are from?

I’m from quite a big city where it’s a lot busier and there are a lot more people, so it’s different going to Sonoma State where it’s much smaller. The environment is also a lot different.

What do you miss most about home, though?

The food, like fish and chips. There’s not a lot of places like that here. I also miss my family and the vibe is different from England.

What are you most looking forward to seeing in California?

I’m most looking forward to traveling around the National Parks and seeing the geological sites that are around. I’d like to experience the West Coast while I’m here.

What has been your highlight at Sonoma State so far?

I’ve liked meeting lots of people from different places. I made a good friend from Alaska and I had never met anyone from there before. I like the culture here as well, everyone seems more outgoing and enthusiastic.
