UWS is a large, modern, multi-campus university with a rich history dating back to 1897.

Each year, UWS is delighted to welcome many students to Scotland from our partner institutions across the world.  As well as meeting people from across the globe, students have the opportunity to meet the local, Scottish students and discover more about the Scottish way of life.

Tips to keep in mind:

In the UK, Australia, and some other countries, classes are referred to as "units" or "modules", and majors are called "courses". Many also offer undergraduate degrees on a three-year timeline, so generally Year 1/Level 4 classes are equivalent to lower-division, and Year 2/Level 5 and Year 3/Level 6 classes are considered upper-division. At UWS, many majors are four-year programs, so Year 2 classes can sometimes be lower-division and sometimes be upper-division, depending on the coursework. Just like at SSU, students must meet any listed prerequisites in order to take a class. Students should anticipate taking the majority of their classes within one department and can anticipate being able to take one class outside of their department, as long as they are flexible. It is not uncommon for your grade to be based on just a final exam, or a final exam and one project. Many classes are offered each semester (listed as Semester 1 or Semester 2), however, some classes are yearlong only, and semester exchange students would not be eligible to take those classes. Though students can participate in this program for the Fall semester only, grades will not be posted until June or July the following year. If students are graduating in the same Fall semester they are studying abroad, this will result in a delay in graduation.
