We at the IEEC had a great time hosting you all for our Coffee & Culture event, themed France! We were fortunate enough to have one of our French ambassadors make crêpes for us before we played a fun game looking for Ratatouille!

CSU IP Priority Deadline for Spring: September 15

 

CSU IP Scholarship Deadline: October 1 

(Must complete application by September 15 deadline)

 

CSU IP is the California State University system-wide study abroad program, offering semester and year-long opportunities for CSU and eligible community college transfer students. It enhances education, career prospects, and personal growth by providing international experiences that develop critical thinking, self-awareness, and cross-cultural understanding. Studying abroad through CSU IP gives students a unique global perspective and a competitive edge in today’s interconnected world.

 

Japanese Speech Competition Registration Deadline: October 1

 

Sonoma State University is honored to partner with the Komaru-Koutsu Foundation to host a Japanese Language Speech Contest. This contest provides a unique platform for participants to showcase their language skills while fostering a deeper connection between the Japanese language and local Sonoma County communities. SSU looks forward to welcoming participants, supporters, and attendees for this celebration of language and learning. Speeches must be on the topic of transportation as a tool for global engagement.

 

Gilman Scholarship Deadline: October 3 

 

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program, administered by the U.S. Department of State, supports students with limited financial means to study or intern abroad, enhancing skills crucial for national security and economic prosperity. It is a competitive, merit-based scholarship available to Pell Grant recipients or those who will receive a Pell Grant during their term of study abroad.


USAC Highlight: Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chiang Mai, known as the "Rose of the North," is a historic city located on the Ping River in northern Thailand, surrounded by stunning mountain ranges and offering a cooler climate compared to the rest of the country. With over 700 temples, a rich cultural heritage, and a vibrant night market, it is a hub of history, trade, and local culture. The area also boasts national parks, nature preserves, and scenic landmarks like Doi Inthanon, Thailand's highest mountain, and the iconic Wat Doi Suthep temple overlooking the city.

USAC Thailand

The USAC program is hosted at Chiang Mai University (CMU), a prestigious institution recognized throughout Southeast Asia for its academic excellence. Founded in 1964 by King Bhumibol Adulyadej, CMU is Northern Thailand's first university, with a diverse student body of 40,000 across four campuses. The USAC program takes place on the picturesque SuanSak campus, which spans 600 acres and is surrounded by stunning natural beauty, including Doi Suthep Mountain. The campus offers state-of-the-art facilities and is home to various academic faculties and research institutes, with the newly opened International Centre for Education welcoming international students. CMU continues to strengthen its global presence, offering numerous international degree programs and courses.
