First Coffee & Culture: Japan - Recap
We hosted the first Coffee & Culture meeting of the semester last week.
The theme was Japan, and everyone had a great time learning facts about Japan over Kahoot, hosted by our ambassador who studied in Japan!
Coffee & Culture this week: France 🇫🇷
Join IEEC for Coffee & Culture again this week, Thursday, September 4th, at 12:00 pm in the International Hall! The theme is France, and we will have our French ambassador making crêpes, along with other activities to get to know each other.

Fulbright Deadline: September 15, 2025
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers opportunities for graduate study, professional research, and English teaching internships abroad, supporting about 1,500 Americans each year in over 130 countries. At Sonoma State University, applicants must apply through the Global Engagement Office, where Fulbright Program Advisor Hope Ortiz reviews applications and conducts interviews before submission.

USAC Program of the Week: Da Nang, Vietnam
Want to have the opportunity to study abroad in places that other programs don’t offer? USAC is a great option for this! USAC is a direct enrollment program and offers a range of places for students to study abroad, which some other programs might not have. Visit the USAC site for more information!

This week’s highlight is the Vietnam Study Abroad Program in Da Nang! It offers affordable opportunities to study international business and management, computer science engineering, or biomedical science while also exploring the Vietnamese language and culture. Students take classes at the VNUK Institute of Research and Education with full support services and can join clubs, sports, workshops, seminars, and field trips. Da Nang provides a vibrant yet affordable lifestyle with beaches, cafés, parks, and cultural landmarks, making it an ideal place to study abroad.
SSU Event of the Week
Get to see a bit of the lovely area surrounding SSU by joining AS for a Day of Service at the Petaluma Bounty Farm on September 6th, from 8:15 to 12:30 pm (check-in at Flagpoles)! You’ll be working with plants and might even help with harvesting! Remember to register online by 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 4, 2025!
