This week’s bulletin includes an exciting scholarship opportunity, upcoming IEEC Events, and this week’s Coffee and Culture!
Happy Cesar Chavez Day, Seawolves!
Monday, March 31st, 2025
We here at GEO hope everybody will enjoy their three-day weekend courtesy of Cesar Chavez! For our international folks, here’s a bit about why this is a holiday! Cesar Chavez was an American Labor leader and civil rights activist. His championing of farmers' rights through nonviolent activism led to the creation of the United Farm Workers Labor Union. On the last day of March, Chavez’s birthday, we remember his contributions. This holiday was instituted in 2014 during President Obama’s time in Office, and California is one of 10 states to have it as a state holiday. We hope everybody takes this day to remember all civil rights activists and enjoy their three-day weekend!
