We are excited to share our student podcast, The World Through Our Eyes, where we invite SSU Alumni who have studied away to share their stories about their experiences and reflect on world news. Tune in this week for a lovely conversation with alumni, Amanda Best ft. her close friend Zoe Galasso, from Paris, France! They will be discussing what it was like to study away in a big city that is known for its tourism and provide advice for students who want to study away in Paris.

Alumni Instagram Takeover: Swansea, Wales on Friday, February 19th

Instagram: @ssustudyaway

We will be having our next Alumni Instagram Takeover this week! Come watch an SSU study abroad alum share their experiences studying abroad in Wales, and reflect on how the study abroad experience continues to impact their life even after graduation. You can ask about their time studying away and get some questions answered too! These takeovers are a great opportunity to learn more about specific programs and locations, and to hear advice from SSU study away alumni themselves.

North American Language and Culture Assistants Program (NALCAP) Information Session: Session Recording

Couldn't make it to the NALCAP information session? Here is the session recording!

Passcode: %n=i3M#G

The NALCAP is an outstanding program that provides American and Canadian college students and graduates, who are native-like speakers of English to partner with elementary and secondary schools in Spain to strengthen language programs as Teaching Assistants under the supervision and guidance of teachers in English or French as a foreign language.

Placements are offered all across Spain running from October 1st to May 31st for most assignments. NALCAP recipients receive a monthly stipend of 700 to 1000 euros depending on the assigned region. Hours of assistant teaching can range from 12 to 16 hours per week also depending on where the assigned region is.

Make sure to listen to this session recording where program requirements are discussed, program conditions are listed, how the application process is and questions are answered.

Tip of the week: Just apply!

We know there is some anxiety around COVID and applying to study away. Though we are optimistic that study away programs will run in Fall, we cannot yet be 100% sure what it will look like. However, if you at least apply, then the option will remain open to you, rather than not applying and then deciding in April or May that you wish you had. If you apply, get accepted, and then decide not to go, we can always cancel or defer your application.
